One Step at a time: Running for Awareness and Support
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
My name is Robert, and I’m reaching out today with a heavy heart and a personal mission.
Over the past year, I’ve started to take my health more seriously. With a family history of conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and weight-related issues, I realized that making changes now could help me stay ahead of these challenges. By embracing regular exercise and healthier eating, I’m striving to live a longer, fuller life. But this journey has also made me more aware of how many of us are silently struggling with health issues we may not even realize.
Right now, though, my focus has shifted to something deeply personal.
Recently, two dear friends of mine, who are also colleagues at Barhale, faced a series of unimaginable challenges. My friend lost his mother suddenly, leaving the family reeling from the sudden loss of a beloved, vibrant woman. Just as they were beginning to process their grief, they received the heartbreaking news that her father has been diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer. I can’t begin to imagine the depth of their pain, especially as they are far from home and trying to cope with so much at once.
In an effort to show my support and raise awareness for those battling cancer and other hidden health struggles, I’ve committed to a 6-hour running event on Sunday, 24th November, with a personal goal of covering at least 50 km.
How You Can Help:
I’ve set up this fundraising page to help support my friends during this incredibly difficult time. Every donation and kind message helps me take one more step toward these goals, and your words of support can provide my friends with much-needed strength to navigate this challenging period. Even if you can’t donate, simply sharing this page or sending your thoughts can make a significant impact.
Additionally, I’m committed to matching donations received to support Cancer Research UK and Great Ormond Street Hospital, with the aim of helping others facing similar battles in the long term. Your generosity will not only support my friends but also contribute to crucial cancer research.
I’d be honored if you would consider joining me in the run, whether in spirit or in person. If you can’t donate, simply sharing this page or spreading the word would make a significant impact.
Let’s take this moment to not only support those in need but also to focus on our own health and well-being. Together, we can make a difference.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, your support, and for being part of this journey with me.
Warmly,
Robert
