This year, I have been graciously gifted a waiver to run the Boston Marathon and extend my streak to 18 years! I am using this opportunity to raise money for our literacy program at Revere Community Health Center, where I have worked as a pediatrician for the past 10 years.

Our clinic distributes books to children from birth to 5 years old at all their routine visits through the Reach Out and Read Program. We know early exposure to literacy and reading has many benefits, and connecting books to well-child care allows us to highlight the importance of reading and early literacy with our families.

For this year's Boston Marathon, I am collecting donations to expand our clinic library to include books for patients over the age of 5. We know the benefits of books go far beyond just learning to read. Through books, young readers can be exposed to parts of the world outside of their home and community. Books expand a child's imagination, help children build empathy and understand their own emotions (and others), and allow the discovery of cultures, languages, and opportunities they may not otherwise experience.

All donations will go directly to purchasing books for our clinic to give to families.

For a donation of $78.60 (26.2 miles x $3 average cost per book) supporters will get a limited edition, custom "Read, Run, Repeat" T-shirt.

Donations of $200 or more will be recognized with a book shaped name plate acknowledging donors on the shelf.
