Running Chicago Marathon for Pakistan
Donation protected
Pakistan is a magical country with the most hospitable people. Their kindness and generosity are out of this world. A few years ago, my wife and I had the privilege of visiting Pakistan, and we were humbled by their culture of giving to others. The way they take care of their friends and family is heartwarming. This time, Pakistan needs our help.
Unfortunately, Pakistan has experienced some of the worst floodings in decades. The monsoon rains took the lives of over 1,000 people, destroyed houses, devastated fields, and left thousands of people without sufficient food and decent shelter. Now that the waters are finally receding, we are seeing the magnitude of the horrific devastation. The Pakistanis will need millions of dollars and many years to rebuild what the floodings destroyed.
On October 9, my wife and I will run the Chicago marathon. We want to use that opportunity to raise funds to help a few families, which we have already identified, who lost their houses and who are struggling to find food. We are offering the opportunity to sponsor at least one of the 42 kilometers of the marathon. If 42 people are willing to donate $24 dollars, they would help us raise $1,000 dollars for our brothers and sisters in Pakistan.
Two of our best friends from grad school, Shan and Zohair, are Pakistanis who live in Karachi and Rawalpindi, respectively. They are both the embodiment of Pakistani generosity and kindness. Shan and Zohair will help us distribute the money among the families that are in urgent need.
So please help us give a hand to the people of Pakistan and let’s raise $1,000 dollars together! Believe me that Pakistanis would help you if you needed them.
Update (09.08.2022).- As we aim closer to our initial $1,000 goal, we decided to raise the goal to $1,500. Thank you for your generosity!
