Recently, our A-level maths class lost a truly extraordinary teacher, mentor, and human being. Mr. Nev John sadly passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.

To celebrate his incredible life and keep his inspiring spirit alive, my friend Robert and I are running a half marathon to raise vital funds for cancer research.

Why We’re Doing This

Mr. John was so much more than just our maths teacher. He was a bright, bubbly, and completely selfless person who brought joy into every room he walked into. Even while enduring difficult treatments, he came to our lessons with a genuine smile on his face, working tirelessly to support us without ever letting his own struggles show. Right up until the very end, he was always thinking of his students first and giving us everything he had.

Anyone who was lucky enough to be taught by him remembers his favourite phrase: "Beautiful maths." His passion for mathematics was endless and truly contagious. He made us fall in love with learning, and he showed us what dedication really looks like.

Our Goal & How You Can Help

We are taking on these 13.1 miles so that:

Cancer research gets critical funding to find better treatments and cures.

Fewer students and families have to lose someone as bright and irreplaceable as Mr. John.

His memory and legacy continue to inspire kindness, strength, and positivity.
