On October 12th, I’ll run the Royal Victoria Half Marathon, not just for the race, but for something far more personal.
This run is for those living with ALS, a disease that steals movement and muscle while leaving the mind untouched. It’s merciless. And yet, those facing it often meet it with quiet strength; steady, unshakable, deeply human.
Our friend, colleague, father, and husband is in that fight. Derek’s calm presence and quiet resilience have left a lasting mark on our lives. He would never ask for the spotlight, but his impact deserves to be honoured and his family deserves our help.
ALS has no cure. There’s no fixing this. But we can show up. We can run. We can give. We can help carry a bit of the weight, even if it's just for a moment.
Where your donation goes:
75% will go directly to Derek and his family, helping to make his home more accessible and easing the daily challenges ALS brings, so they can focus on time together instead of the constant grind of logistics.
25% will support ALS research and patient services through the ALS Society of British Columbia.
If this speaks to you, please help. Your support reaches toward a cure and wraps around a family who shouldn’t have to carry this alone.

With gratitude for every step we take together,
Adam Trimm
