This story isn't about me- it's about the people I care about.
My mother has been suffering from Fibromyalgia for years- this was due to stress that was brought on from a road traffic collision. This collision was with drunk driver, that attempted to flee the scene, leaving my mum almost paralysed.
This has unfortunately led to my mum being disabled, and forced to live her life in a restricted manner. However, this did not impact her spirit, she would always put on a brave face and smile so that my sister and I wouldn't be as worried. I know this has impacted her massively physically and mentally- it saddens me deeply as this incident could not have happened to more selfless person.
My mum has been pivotal to the path I have taken in life, and into making me the man I am today- I have learnt so much from her that I could never repay.

My step mum, Lynn - also suffers with Fibromyalgia. This causes her a great amount of pain, and lost days simply due to excess fatigue. Although, Lynn often pushes through as that is the character she is. Lynn sometimes goes under the radar as she cares for my dad- who had a serious life changing accident a few years ago. That's why I feel she deserves more support and appreciation for what she does - she keeps strong for me and our family.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition of widespread pain and profound fatigue. The pain tends to be felt as diffuse aching or burning, often described as head to toe. It may be worse at some times than at others. It may also change location, usually becoming more severe in parts of the body that are used the most. The fatigue ranges from feeling tired, to the exhaustion of a flu-like illness. It may come and go and people can suddenly feel drained of all energy - as if someone just "pulled the plug".

I've decided to run a marathon in Finland- which will entail multiple hours of pain and misery for me. Which is only a usual day for someone who has fibromyalgia.

This will be my first marathon- so I'd be looking to get under 04hrs and 40 minutes. May 16th 2026.

Want to join me in making a difference? I’m raising money to benefit Fibromyalgia Action UK, and any donation will help make an impact.

Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
