Running 400km for Shooting Stars Inclusive Basketball Team
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
Over the next 8 weeks, I’ll be running 400km to raise funds for St Vincent’s Basketball Club in Glasnevin, home of the incredible Shooting Stars Inclusive Basketball Team.
My son plays with Shooting Stars, and I’ve seen firsthand the incredible impact the club has on the kids involved. Some started out still mastering how to throw or catch a ball, and now they’re passing, shooting, and playing with real confidence as part of a team. It’s not just about sport — it’s about self-esteem, connection, a sense of achievement, and most importantly, fun. It gives the kids a chance to let off steam, be themselves, and simply enjoy the game.
Shooting Stars has both junior and senior squads, giving more children and teens with additional needs the chance to grow, progress, and enjoy basketball in a fun, structured, and supportive environment.
The coaches are volunteers who give their time and energy every week. Funds raised will help cover vital club costs such as hall rental, team kits, travel, and competition entry, ensuring that every player has the chance to take part and experience all the club has to offer.
I’ll be making a personal donation at each milestone throughout the challenge, and any extra support would mean the world. All funds raised will be passed directly to St Vincent’s Basketball Club by cheque or bank transfer at the end of the challenge, pending confirmation from the club’s committee.
Thanks so much!
Sue
