Running 250KM in the Sahara Desert & Sending Teens to Camp
Donation protected
Starting on April 6th I'll be running 250km over 7 days in the Sahara Desert at the Marathon des Sables. I'll carry all my gear and food with me, except for water and my tent.
It will be my grandest adventure to-date.
I grew up in a family where the outdoors was our playground - we ocean kayaked up and down the BC coast, bicycle toured the Rockies, motorcycled to Alaska and back. A tent was my home. A secluded beach my refuge. And a mountain summited my indelible proof of mental and physical strength. The outdoors have become my place of reflection - and now my source of deep healing - whenever life starts to unravel.
Not all young women are privileged to be exposed so early in their life to the inspiration and healing that can be found in the outdoors.
So, as I head to the Marathon des Sables, I am fundraising for Girl In The Wild - a British Columbia-based organization that hosts confidence-boosting 7-day wilderness camps for teenagers who self-identify as girls, non-binary, or genderqueer.
It costs $3000 to send a teen to camp (it's free for the teens!)
So that's the goal. Send one teenager into the type of wild spaces that have the power to expand their love for the world and for themselves.
Thank you to all who help me send a teen to camp this summer.

More about camp: "the teenagers hike into remote, alpine wilderness to experience 7 days of love, deep conversations, judgement-free friendships, and adventure in extraordinary places. It is a safe, judgment-free, hella encouraging environment that enables participants to open up, release the heaviness, crawl out of the dark, and see and feel clearly how capable, incredible, and powerful they are. After one week, they leave feeling strong, empowered, and free. It’s a remarkable transformation."
