♂️ Why I’m Running 250K Across Greece… With Everything on My Back
This September, I’ll be taking on one of the toughest endurance races in the world: the RacingThePlanet 250K Ultramarathon across Greece.
It’s not just the distance—250 kilometers (155 miles) over six days through rugged mountains, ancient trails, scorching sun, and over 23,400 feet of elevation gain with equivalent descent.
What makes it truly grueling is that it’s self-supported:
I’ll carry everything I need—food, gear, clothes, first aid—on my back. The only things provided are water and a tent to sleep in at night. No crew. No comfort. Just grit.
Every step will test my strength, resolve, and willpower. But I’m not doing it just for myself.
Running for Karunalaya — and for Hope
I’m running to raise funds for Karunalaya, a nonprofit in Chennai, India, that supports street-connected children and vulnerable communities. It was founded by someone I’ve known since I was five years old—Dr. Paul Sunder Singh, my classmate from kindergarten through high school.
While I took a different path in life, Paul chose to dedicate his to helping the most marginalized. Karunalaya was born from his deep compassion and commitment to justice. Today, the organization provides:
- Rescue and shelter for abandoned or at-risk children
- Education and sports programs to build confidence and stability
- Support for women and families living on the streets
- Advocacy and legal aid to protect the rights of the urban homeless
I’ve watched Karunalaya grow from Paul’s vision into a movement. He’s the kind of leader who sleeps little, works long hours, and knows every child by name. His heart is in the mission.
Endurance, Pain, and Resilience — A Shared Journey
Running 250 kilometers across unforgiving terrain, with a heavy pack and limited rations, is physically brutal and mentally exhausting. But it doesn’t come close to the daily realities faced by the kids Karunalaya helps.
They too carry burdens—with no support. Many have fled abuse, hunger, child labor, or worse. But like ultrarunners, they keep going—step by step—toward a better future.
This is why I chose a self-supported race.
Because these children don’t get aid stations.
They endure hunger, danger, fear—and still manage to smile, dream, and fight for dignity.
Their resilience is my inspiration.
Your Support Can Change a Life
Every dollar raised goes directly to Karunalaya and helps fund:
Safe shelter, food, and education
Youth development through sports
Job training and women’s empowerment
Legal protections for street families
I’m shouldering the miles—will you help carry their future?
Together, we can give children the tools they need to not just survive, but thrive.
