Running 10km per day for the Capuchin Day Centre
Donation protected
In 2019, in an urge to keep fit during the dreary and cold month of January, I decided to run 5km every day. I documented the process here on Twitter!
The route I regularly followed led me along the Grand Canal where I regularly saw people having to sleep rough in the most horrible of conditions. This served as something of a reality check for the little discomfort I was choosing to take upon myself! I ended up donating €1 per kilometre to a homeless charity at the end of the month to create some link between what I'd done and what I'd seen.
In January 2021, I'd like to emulate my previous running challenge but now I'm going to run 10km every day! I now live in Dublin 7 and I've decided to take this opportunity to raise money for the Capuchin Day Centre (since they're based near where I live) and to help support the wonderful work they do helping people who have to suffer the horrors of an Irish winter all season long. For me, it'll only be (hopefully!) 50 minutes a day. I'll be tracking it here on Twitter!
