Help support Run For Rory 2024

Hi, my name is Tasha and I am the proud Mother to Rory who sadly passed in October 2020 at just the age of 13.

I am heavily approaching the 4th Anniversary this October, and have decided to complete the challenge of running 155 kilometres between the time of the 1st- 31st October.
The event ‘Run for Rory’ first began in 2021, where I decided to honour my son’s name whilst raising money for important charities.
Grief is not linear, and the loss of a child will always remain so heavily on my heart forever.
However, as I navigate this grief I found running became a way to improve my mental and physical health.

I feel very passionate about the health benefits that exercise can provide for people, so because of this I have always ensured that Run For Rory has been shared as an open event for if anybody wishes to join me on this challenge.
It is with thanks to the community in the past for their generous contributions, or by joining in this challenge, that we have always been able to spread so much awareness, but also raise a significant amount of money for a charity.
I am also so grateful that my Sons name is being honoured whilst doing this too.

This year, I have decided to raise the money for a non profit organisation called Empathy North-west CIC.
Who are based in Wigan and offer therapeutic intervention to individuals, couples, families and children.

Studies show that 1 in 6 people in the UK currently report suffering from mental health problems.
Mental health services are overwhelmed by a significant number of cases and long waiting lists- this is including sending away even the higher risk patients at risk of suicide.

Wigan is amongst some of the highest ranking regions that are most affected by mental health in the UK.
The inability to afford therapy, the stigma of seeking help, the lack of funding and thus resources available- EmpathyNorthwest CIC wants to break this cycle.
For the past 10 years, Empathy North-west CIC has been transforming lives through therapy, starting therapy sessions from a minimum of £10 a session- almost 4 times less than the average counselling session.
They offer a number of solo, couple and family services- online, over the phone and in person.
You can be referred to Empathy North-west CIC by your GP, or other organisation, but you can also self refer (or refer on behalf of your child.)

Empathy North-west CIC is run solely by kind volunteers that provide a safe and nurturing space assessable to all.
You can find more information on their website at www.empathynorthwestcic.com

I am currently in my 4th year training as a person centred counsellor and have the privilege to work along side the Empathy team. This has enabled me to also see at first hand the support and help Empathy North-west CIC provide and is why I have also chosen to help raise money for them this time.

If you would like to follow the commitment and dedication of myself and others as we take on this challenge- please follow us at Run for Rory on instagram.

I will also be attaching my Strava account to the page, to track the kilometres I complete throughout the course of the month too!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my page and if you can spare anything towards this fundraiser-I would be extremely grateful.

As always, I am so grateful for everybody’s love and support over the years!
