Meet Maya. She was born April 16, 2018. Within minutes of her birth she went into cardiac arrest and was rushed to the intensive care unit at Necker hospital in Paris. For three days she fought between life and death, ultimately choosing to be part of our life. Following five days in the intensive care unit and ten days in neonatal care my cousins, Mathew and Axelle, were able to take her home for the first time. At this point no doctor could predict her future.
Today Maya is nine months old. She has numerous cerebral malformations, hormonal problems, partial paralysis, deafness ,epileptic seizures, to name just a few. No one can predict her future development but we know for sure that she will be severely handicapped both mentally and physically. We still don’t know if she will ever walk or talk on her own. Maya is currently under the care of two neurologists, three pediatricians, an endocrinologist, an ophthalmologist, an orthopedist, three physiotherapists, an osteopath, a psychomotor therapist, a hearing aid specialist etc., that’s a lot for a little girl of nine months! That is also a lot for her parents to support both emotionally and financially.
That is why I am running NYC Half Marathon on MARCH 17, to raise money for Maya. I want to help ensure that she continues to receive the care she needs to improve her development and give her every opportunity for the best life possible.
Please support me with a donation. Thank you.
