Hello Friends and Family!

This May 3rd, I'll be running the Indy Mini Half Marathon in Indianapolis. Running has become a hobby of mine, and I wanted to partner my experience with raising money for a good cause.

Many of you have been fortunate enough to meet my nephew, Lucas, and if you haven't, you've probably heard me telling stories about him. He recently turned two and is growing up astonishingly fast, but early on he had a very tough go of it. He was born premature at 29 weeks and only weighed 2 lbs and 3 oz. He had to spend 70+ days in the NICU while he was growing strong enough to go home. He was under the care of the Franciscan Health Indianapolis NICU, and his health care was top-notch, as was the support provided for his parents, Rebecca and Logan. While it was a trying and scary time, the team at Franciscan instilled confidence and provided as much comfort as possible. It still blows my mind how they can care for and nurture such a small and fragile life.

I am raising money while I run this race to donate to Franciscan Health's NICU. I personally feel so grateful Lucas was given great care and that I get to enjoy seeing him grow from that 2 lb 3 oz newborn into his curious and joyful self. I feel it fitting to raise money while running a race in Indianapolis. Money raised for the NICU goes to support not only the amazing staff and doctors that work there but helps to provide counseling to parents as well as small comforts and gifts to the patients during their stay.
