I am reaching out to you for your support and help in raising money to purchase a Cuddle Cot in memory of our daughter, Charlotte Mary, who was born sleeping on July 9, 2015. My goal is to raise $2,900, which is the total cost of one Cuddle Cot and basket. I am also running the NJ Marathon on April 30, 2017 as part of this cause and in Charlotte’s Memory. Every step, every mile will be in her memory and for every baby gone too soon.

While I was pregnant with Charlotte, we were very excited to welcome another baby girl into the family. Everything seemed to be moving along as expected. However, on July 8th, our lives changed forever. Once we reached the hospital that night, we were told there was no heartbeat. After more than 37 weeks of watching our little girl grow and falling in love with her, we had to say goodbye before even saying hello. Nothing can ever prepare you for such a tragedy and you never think that this would ever happen. After trying to find answers and endless research, I read about Cuddle Cots online.

For those not familiar with it, a Cuddle Cot is an in room cooling unit that is the size of a small humidifier disguised inside of a bassinet. Research has proven having a unit available to parents while they are in the hospital encourages families to spend time with their baby. This gift of time allows precious hours for bonding, pictures, plaster molds to be taken and other family members to come and meet the baby before the natural changes that occur in death become more apparent. In addition the baby can now stay in the room with the family the entire hospital stay if the family so desires. While we know this might not be for everyone it does allow families a choice.

Mt Sinai, the hospital I delivered at, does not have a Cuddle Cot. I did not have the opportunity to have Charlotte in the room with me for long periods of time. In Charlotte’s memory, I am raising money to purchase the first one for the hospital, in hopes of helping other families.
