Run for a Cause: Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children

My sister is currently in treatment for a very aggressive and rare form of breast cancer that accounts for less than 1% of all breast cancers. I have this overwhelming guilt that she has this condition while I am perfectly healthy. Her having to go through this makes me appreciate my health and what I have in life, and so I wanted to support her by doing something I never felt was possible for myself. What I never thought I could do was run a marathon. I always thought the preparation for the run and intensity of the actual event were something only crazy people subjected themselves to. I do love running, but I was always a 5-10K type of runner. I know the training will be hard and intense, but knowing my sister is going through something so much bigger, will be my motivation. Talking to my sister, we thought it would be great to raise funds for The Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children. We wanted to focus on something local and something that can help other families going through this difficult time. This foundation provides financial, social and emotional support, as well as pet therapy. I will be doing The Lost Dutchman Marathon on 2/16/2024. Thank you for reading and thanks for your support!
