Ruby’s journey ahead

My name is Jen, and 11 year old Ruby, daughter of Jer Enns and Michelle Eagles is so dear to all of us at Love it or Leave it Ranch and the Fernie/South Country community.

Ruby, her best friend Billie as well as their riding group of 10 finished their show prep lesson for the night and rode their horses down to put them away which they do a couple times a week. They were bareback and dusk was approaching and Billie and Ruby came off near the pasture. Ruby has sustained some very serious neck injuries where she is heading into surgery at Vancouver Children’s hospital this evening.

Thank goodness she was wearing her helmet as it saved her head. She does however have a tear drop fracture of C6 and C7 and the disc in between these two vertebrae are pushing on her spinal cord. She still has movement in all limbs today but we pray that God will work through the team of doctors this evening and carefully remove the disc off of her cord to remove the extreme discomfort.

I am raising money to take some of the pressure off of Ruby’s family as they are travelling from Fernie to Vancouver and have a long journey ahead.
