Ruby Learns to Play
Ruby was born, September 26, 2016, with Vacteral Association and also suffers from a form of Primary Immunodeficiency. Ruby is currently a patient of 14 doctors and attends occupational therapy at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital. She is a patient at Riley Children’s Hospital, Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Ruby has two in-home nurses that stay with her 40+ hours a week, and they are truly her best friends. Ruby’s medical issues revolve around, swallowing, breathing, and digestion. Her days revolve around two breathing treatments/day, two SmartVest cycles/day, multiple medications up to 4X/day, inhaler 2X/day, and a weekly IGG infusion. She has to be monitored while eating/drinking because she is extremely prone to choking.
Ruby’s occupational therapist suggested that Ruby start play therapy. Ruby has been noticing that she is “different” and that as she ages it has become harder for her to understand why she isn’t able to go out in public (everyday), go to school, or go to friends houses all the time. It’s been absolutely heartbreaking to have to hear her sob and scream because she doesn’t want to be “special” anymore and that she just wants the germs to go away. They suggested play therapy to help her get a better understanding of her medical issues and how that is going to affect her life. The therapy session is $160 for the intake and $140 a session. We aren’t aware of the amount of sessions because she has not yet had her intake.
I have been friends with Britt and Kreg since 2008 and I have never met such kind, selfless people. They are willing to support anyone, anyway they can. Now is our time to show them how much we love them and support them. Any donation amount is greatly appreciated or even just sharing this will help! Thank you!!
