This fundraising effort is for the Memorial for Dr. Al Gedicks, retired Sociology Professor at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Dr. Gedicks was an educator and a long-time social and environmental justice activist who worked for communities in Congo, Central and South America and for Indigenous Nations primarily in Wisconsin but also in Michigan and Minnesota. Long-time friend, Zoltan Grossman penned a moving tribute for Dr. Gedicks' obituary at: https://www.sonnenburgfamilyfh.com/obituaries/Al-Gedicks?obId=48378250
Dr. Gedicks lived modestly and used his resources for his work for to help other communities. His devotion to his work is reflected in nearly sixty years of activism on behalf of others. We wish to honor Dr. Gedicks at a Memorial gathering scheduled 10AM-3PM, Saturday, July 18, 2026 at the Menominee Nation Casino Convention Center in Keshena, Wisconsin. Lunch will be provided. We do request that you RSVP if you plan to attend via this site: https://tinyurl.com/2y4j5nmc We also invite you to leave remembrances at the RSVP site if you are unable to attend.
