DeVries Family Orphan Hosting Fund

"D" is an 8 year old orphan from Eastern Europe. She has a sweet personality. She is very athletic, and she likes to play outside. She would like to learn to play tennis. If she could have anything, she would like her very own doll that she would name "Olha". "D" has had a rough childhood, and she is living in an orphanage.

Ryan & Lydia instantly felt connected to this little girl through her picture and story. They, along with their girls, desire to show her God's unconditional love and the love of a family. They desperately want to host her in their home this summer, but cost is getting in the way. They will need to pay a hosting fee which covers travel expenses, provide her with clothing and other essentials while she is here, and send several things back with her at the end of her stay. They need help...financial help, to make this happen.

I was touched when hearing Lydia speak of this little girl and how excited her family was, the connection they felt and how willing they were to give "D" a stable, loving & nuturing environment. Lydia spoke how they had put a deposit down on her, had filled out all the paperwork to host, had made dentist appointments and had dates set to go to host meetings. Everything was set to go! My heart dropped when Lydia broke the news that they received more information about the hosting program and financially they wouldn't be able to do it. There was more costs associated with it then they first had anticipated and a large deposit was due within one week giving them little time to fundraise. I felt there had to be something friends, family and the community could do. For those who know this family know how perfect they are for "D" and how they aren't ones to ask for money. That's where I came in and said I want to help in making this possible and I know others will too!  I am hopeful friends, family and our community will help support the DeVries family and make this opportunity come true!
