It is no secret that the current US government is harming many and high on their list of people to demonize, imprison, and disappear is Venezuelans. Venezuelans are people with whom we share food, work, celebrations, ecosystems, and culture. They are our neighbors, family, and friends.
We need to show up for each other and this is one way you can help one family targeted by the administration's hate-based violence.
A family of 4 in the Denver metro area was torn apart when their father & primary income earner was swept up and detained in a community ICE enforcement action a few months ago. He has no criminal history and there are no charges against him.
Dad worked in snow removal and maintenance and provided care for their young daughters and mom worked at a restaurant in the evenings. Without childcare, she lost her employment after he was detained.
They are now two months behind on rent and facing eviction. She has been seeking resources from churches, work, and hustling to do everything she can to keep her children and herself housed. Meanwhile, their father is beside himself with worry and is nearing the point of giving up his legal right to pursue immigration relief & accept deportation - despite his fear of return - just to get outside to support his family.
Our organization is working closely with the family to seek longer-term stabilization. They need immediate financial assistance and appreciate any financial resources you can share.
