My name is Tiffany Channer, and I am reaching out on behalf of my family and the resilient community of Pondside, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, our lives have been turned upside down. The powerful winds and torrential rains tore through our homes, uprooted trees, and left many families—mine included—without shelter, electricity, or clean water.Our once-peaceful town now stands in ruins—homes are flooded, roads are blocked, and the simple comfort of security feels like a distant memory. Yet even amidst the devastation, our community remains strong. Pondside is a place where neighbours are family, where everyone looks out for each other, and where hope still flickers through the rubble.

Hurricane Melissa unleashed severe flooding and widespread destruction across Jamaica. The storm’s fierce winds tore roofs from homes, uprooted crops, and left many residents stranded without resources. In Pondside, several families—including my own—lost nearly everything. We are now working together to clear debris, rebuild what we can, and support the elderly and children who have been most affected.

We have set a fundraising goal of $5,000, which will go toward:

• Urgent home repairs: patching roofs, replacing windows, and clearing flood damage.

• Replacing essential items such as bedding, kitchen supplies, and clothing.

• Providing assistance to vulnerable neighbours who have lost even more.

• Supporting community cleanup and rebuilding efforts.

Every dollar donated brings us one step closer to restoring safety, dignity, and hope to our community.
