Swaziland Medical Missions Trip

        As some of you may know, I am currently a nursing student and will be graduating in December as an RN.  I went into nursing school because I have a huge desire to help and care for others.  A big part of that desire is to be able to use those medical skills along with love and compassion and serve in missions. 

       This summer I have been given the oppurtunity to be apart of a medical missions team to Swaziland, Africa.  This oppurtunity could not have come at a more perfect time since this is the summer before I head into my last semester of school and I feel that it will be a great motivator and reminder of why I decided to be a nurse in the first place.

        I will join about 30-35 other nurses, student nurses and volunteers for a 15 day trip. Each day we will be sharing the love and hope of God while working and visiting different  villiages. We will be bringing a traveling medical clinic, medicine, clothes, shoes, and food. We will also have oppurtunities to teach health classes and work with orphans.
     Swaziland is a small country in southeast Africa between South Africa and Mozambique, this country has  a HIV Prevalence Rate of 42.6% (highest in the world). The life expectancy of only 31 years old (and declining population) as well as approximately  80,000 children orphaned by HIV/AIDS.  Although these statistics are beyond what I can solve. I know that nothing is impossible for God and I want to be apart of bringing hope and comfort to those who need it most. It is what I am most passionate about.
