Hola! We are Hello Habanero, a minority-owned full-service digital marketing agency, located in Kennewick, Washington. About a month ago, we collaborated on an effort to support Amethyst Creamery led by Tumbleweeds Mexican Flair Restaurant, which was successful thanks to all the participating businesses and our great community! One of the collaborating businesses, Rollin, then started an effort to serve her leftover hot chocolate and even encourage businesses/clients to pay it forward by purchasing hot chocolate that she then provided to people in need.
On November 29th, we met with Amanda, owner of Rollin, which then led to a brainstorming session on how we could best serve our community and have the greatest impact possible with the idea of serving hot chocolate. We started asking questions like:
- What if we partnered with local bakeries to provide baked goods with the hot chocolate?
- What if we did an event for the public to raise money to pay for this hot chocolate/bread initiative?
- Would the event get any attention when there is already so many Christmas events?
Then we had our big idea - Let's host an event sharing the largest Rosca de Reyes (King's bread) ever made in Tri-Cities and accompany it with Mexican-inspired hot chocolate provided by Rollin. All while raising money to support a great cause like Grace Kitchen.
Our Event Organizers:
- Hello Habanero: Providing all the marketing and organizing the event
- Rollin: Providing the Mexican-inspired hot chocolate
- Eli's Bakery: Providing the Rosca de Reyes (King's Bread)
- Grace Kitchen: Using the money raised to support women learn job and life skills that enable them to gain sustainable employment and a secure future for themselves and their children.
We then proceeded to start looking for a venue, but quickly started feeling like organizing an event on such a short timeline would be near impossible. A venue needed to have this:
- lots of parking
- a venue that could hold 100-300 people
- a space for serving Mexican hot chocolate
- a space to place a long row of tables for the rosca de reyes
- an area for tables for people to sit down and enjoy
- a space with AV capabilities for our emcee/performers
- a space for performers
We met with Red Lion Hotel - Pasco, and worked through the catering details, and received approval on bringing food/drinks from the outside from established businesses, Rollin and Eli's Bakery. After all the estimates were provided by vendors and we totaled the total cost of this community event, we determined that $5000 would allow us to host an event that would feed a minimum of 200 attendees. However, we want to raise more than the cost of the event to donate towards Grace Kitchen. All money raised not covering event costs will be donated to Grace Kitchen.
Event Details:
- January 6th @ 12-5 PM

- Free and Open to the Public
- Encouraged to dress as royalty (e.g. Prince, Princess, King, Queen, etc.)

What is Three King's Day?
Three Kings' Day, also known as "Día de Reyes," is a holiday widely celebrated in Mexico on January 6th each year. This festive occasion is especially significant in Mexican culture, marked by various customs and traditions. It commemorates the arrival of the three wise men who brought gifts to the infant Jesus. Mexicans typically celebrate with colorful parades, parties, and the sharing of a special sweet bread called "Rosca de Reyes." It's a time when families and friends come together to enjoy delicious food, exchange gifts, and honor this cherished tradition.
What is a Rosca de Reyes?
A Rosca de Reyes is a sweet bread traditionally eaten during the celebration of Three Kings' Day (Día de Reyes). This oval-shaped bread is often decorated with candied fruits to symbolize the jewels on the crowns of the three wise men. What makes it unique are the small figurines or baby Jesus (Niño Dios) figurines hidden within the bread. In our home, whoever finds one in their slice of rosca is responsible for making tamales, and hosting a party. It adds an element of fun and tradition to the celebration.
