Hi everyone!

As some of you may already know, my name is Tashawna Higgins. I am the owner and founder of Mrose Fitness Mrose Health and fitness, located at 5 Rogers Road, York.

Mrose Health and Fitness has partnered with ETBA (Educate Train Believe Achieve) to host our first Breast Cancer Awareness Rose walk!

Rose walk was conceptualized out of love for a woman who had courageously fought breast cancer. This woman is my mother. Rose was her middle name, and she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 36. Before passing away at age 44, I watched her go through chemo, a mastectomy, remission, and cancer again and never complained. The second time she was diagnosed with cancer it had spread to her hip. This cancer was excruciating and caused her to walk limp. Some days it was rough, but when she mustered the courage and strength to get up and move, she did with all her might. Before my mom’s passing, she was a part of a community-based exercise group, where we embraced each other’s company through walking.

Because of my mother’s pain and limp walk, she was always the last person walking behind the group, but it never stopped her from showing up session after session and giving it her all. I organized this walk as a tribute to her and others who are battling the same fight.

Participants of this walk will be walking to celebrate and honor breast cancer survivors, thrivers, and caregivers. Also, we plan to educate the public about prevention and early detection to reduce the risk of this disease. Funds raised through this walk will pay for services like a spa day, catered meals, massage therapy, and physiotherapy for those battling cancer. Our secondary goal is to alleviate the financial burden of travel expenses for loved ones. We are asking for your help to make this happen.

The Walk will take place on October 23, 2022 at 8am - 12pm.
