Imagine being a child who has already faced early childhood trauma, doesn’t fit the mould AND has been told, over and over again, directly or indirectly:

"You're not good enough" ... "My mum says you're strange" ... "You're so weird"... "Why can't you just fit in"..."This isn't a place for people like you" ... "You're too much" ... "Too different" ... "Too difficult"... "We can't help you"

Now imagine a place where that child is not only accepted, but is celebrated!

That place exists - it’s called Roots and Shoots Learning - and right now, it desperately needs your help.

We are a not-for-profit Community Interest Company that offers a lifeline to children and young people (CYP) who are autistic, battling crippling childhood trauma, daily mental health challenges, have moderate-to-severe ADHD, PDA, SEN, or come from low-income &/or poverty-stricken families.

Many of them have been pushed to the darkest edges of life, failed by mainstream education, other organisations, left unsupported, and in some cases, completely forgotten.

At Roots and Shoots Learning, we say: Not on our watch!

Our nature-based learning site is a sanctuary - a place where children and young people (CYP) can explore, heal, and grow.

We collaborate with other organisations such as 'Chambers of Change' offering therapeutic interventions from qualified counsellors; and 'Spectrum Space', as well as with other professionals such as occupational therapists, and speech and language specialists. We have in-house qualified teachers and tutors, as well as a team of well-being practitioners who all work together, and often around-the-clock, to help young people build social skills, independence, and confidence.

We don’t just teach - we listen, we adapt, we care.

But here’s the kicker: our beloved outdoor site is currently… well, let’s just call it “rustic.”

Picture a field with a couple of gazebos, some tents, a fire pit, a few rescue ponies, and a heroic number of pallets!

It’s charming, yes - but with winter fast approaching, charm won’t keep our CYP warm & dry.

We urgently need:

We’ve got some generous volunteers who are cutting back grass, building ponds, planting donated trees, and boosting biodiversity.

What we don’t have is the financial support from those in power - councils and governments - who should be backing us, but they simply aren’t!

So we’re turning to you - our fellow members of public.

You legendary people who believe in compassion, inclusion, and giving every child a fighting chance after a rocky start!
