Get Ron Coomes back on the racetrack

Hi, my name is Courtney Coomes and I'm fundraising to help my grandpa, Ron Coomes, get back on the racetrack. This past Saturday at Sacramento Raceway, my grandpa and his 1967 corvette experienced an unfortunate wreck. Thankfully, he is okay, but the car is in rough shape. We're hoping to raise enough money to rebuild it and make sure that this race isn't his last.

My grandpa has owned this car since 1969 and has been racing it ever since. With the help of Dana Versteegh, his recently deceased best friend and team partner, the "Coomes & Versteegh" racing team converted this corvette from a street/strip car to race ready by the opening of Sacramento Raceway in 1970. Making it and my grandpa a part of Sacramento's racing history for the past 53 years. Throughout the years, he's raced Super Gas, the NHRA Heritage Series and West Coast Pro Gas. And since 2005, Ron has also raced alongside my father, Kent Coomes, making it a family affair.

Racing has been my grandpa's passion and a huge part of my family's lives for a very long time, and since he is not one for asking for help, we, as his family, are asking on his behalf. Help us get my grandpa back behind the wheel for his 54th year of racing and help us preserve this part of racing history.
