Hi - I am one of the teachers at a Hampshire secondary school, who is accompanying a group of 15 and 16 year old students to the schools in the slums of Kenya. We will be working in the most deprived areas: painting, building, teaching and making children who have nothing know that we care. This will be my second trip with the school - the poverty and appalling conditions these children live and study in has to be seen to be believed. There are few, if any resources, for those who live in poverty - many children do not have the opportunity to go to school and those that do will have basic classrooms, toilet 'facilities' and few learning materials.

Previously, we have each taken an extra bag with donations with us: clothes, underwear, writing equipment, books, paper, sports' equipment, sanitary products etc. However, the African airports have now started to search bags and charge 'taxes' on anything that looks like a donation. We have therefore been told by African Adventures (our tour company) not to take anything now.

Due to this, we are asking for monetary donations so we can buy things out there, to donate to the schools and the families of the children. These are schools with no funding, who rely on schools and institutions like ours to survivor.

If you can spare even the most minimal amount, we would be all be grateful.

We have already paid flights and accommodation etc so 100% of the donations will go to buying things for the Kenyan schools.
