Roll the Dice Cornwall C.I.C. HQ Fundraising

Hi,

We are Roll the Dice Cornwall C.I.C., and we have had an amazing year!

We started out in January 2024 as a free community gaming group for children, specialising in Warhammer and tabletop games. Since then, we have grown! We still run out weekly free children's group, and this has gone from strength to strength, with us having worked with over 100 children and young people since we started!

We also started, at the request of the community, fortnightly adult gaming sessions and in May 2024 registered as a non-profit, limited by guarantee, Community Interest Company whose mission is to improve the social, emotional and mental health of our community through in-person gaming.

By September 2024 we started operating 4 days a week out of the Committee Room attached to Porthleven Public Hall. This allowed us to run Home Ed sessions, kids clubs, an adults' evening D&D session, a card game evening, demo days, game events and more!

At the end of November 2024 we held our first ever South West Cornwall Gaming Expo with the aim of bringing together the amazing gaming community in Cornwall. We held this as cheaply as we could for the vendors, and ensured the event was free to attend for the public, so that as many people as possible could benefit from it.

During all of this, we somehow started stocking gaming products as well through an online shop originally, then at our in-person sessions too. Everything we sell is below RRP, with the aim to continue trying to reduce barriers to people entering the gaming hobby, whether that be through boardgames, card games, roleplaying games or tabletop games. Or even something else!

In January 2025 we have been presented with the opportunity to move into our very own FLGS (friendly local gaming space) on the Helston High Street, and we would want to seize this opportunity with both hands!

We are looking to raise money for the following items to help us create a welcoming, but also safe, gaming space for all. These items are the start of our journey, and we have grand plans afoot!

'Soft furnishings' to make it an attractive place to come and play, catch up with friends and to just be.

Some people reading this will think - but you have a shop, you make money therefore you can just buy these things yourself! Well, to those people I say, "Thank you for reading this far, but that's not how we work. Our shop exists purely to help our community have access to the things which they may not be able to, or which become very expensive elsewhere. Any profits from the shop go into - rent, prize support for events, replenishing paints and supplies for the community to use, terrain and mats for the community to use, games to go into the library for the community to use and other elements such as this. At the moment, all adults who work with or for Roll the Dice Cornwall C.I.C. are volunteers, at every level. In short, we HAVE a shop, we ARE NOT a shop."

If you are able to help us create an inclusive, welcoming space, then it is something that will be for the benefit of anyone who wishes to use it.

Our first goal is to establish the main gaming space - it is important that as you come in it is a gaming space first and foremost, for players of any games to settle in to and feel comfortable. The items listed above will help us to do that.

Once the main space is established, there is then the option of additional space which can be rented which will allow us to expand our game playing space. This is outside our current rental budget, so any money raised which is not spent on the first goal will then go towards that. This second space will allow us to have at least 1 permanent 6x4 foot tabletop gaming board set up, with a second 6x4 table permanently set up, but swapping between being used for D&D and more tabletop gaming.
