Reclaiming Our Homes: Eviction Defense Legal Fees

Update (April 18): The first reclaimer faces eviction court in May, 2023.

This fund will be used for legal fees to support (12) households facing eviction court this year.

We are Reclaiming Our Homes (ROH), a coalition of single moms, elders, families, and community members based in El Sereno, CA. At the start of the pandemic in March 2020, while desperately seeking shelter, we seized 13 vacant CalTrans homes. Now, three years later, elected officials and HACLA are choosing to put our families back on the street.

"We will no longer be silenced! We saw something wrong in our community. Unlike everyone else that noticed the homelessness - they chose to complain, or ignore, and allow it. We took it upon ourselves to do something. This became Reclaiming Our Homes."
