During the 1960's Roger Brown was one of the most sought-after basketball players in the country . Roger chose the University of Dayton , where he played freshman basketball .It was clear that Roger had an extremely promising career . However in New York ,there was a point shaving scandal and Roger was unjustly targeted . The NCAA banned Roger Brown. The University of Dayton expelled him ,he lost his scholarship ,and the NBA blackballed him. No formal charges were ever levied, and no wrongdoing ever proven. Neither party did due diligence before taking action that would change the direction of Roger's life.

However ,in 1967 with 6 years of his career lost a disillusioned Roger Brown was invited to join the upstart American Basketball Association .In 2013 despite not playing for the NBA ,which banned him ,Roger was inducted into the NBA's Naismith Hall of Fame . In continuing to acknowledge the life ,times and work of Roger Brown. Recently in December of 2023 , The New York City Council approved the renaming of the street that Roger grow up on and where the family still resides , Prospect Place /Utica Ave as Roger Brown Way.

In order to properly honor and celebrate this American legend the Brown renaming committee needs your help .We need to raise funds to host the event. The celebration will take place on June 22,2024 and will be centered around the things that affected and influenced Roger Brown's life and Legacy, namely colon cancer ,social justice and sports.
