Oonagh Daly here, Secretary of the Rockcorry Community Development Association (RCDA).

The RCDA was set up after the publication of the ‘Rockcorry Vision Plan 2030’ in the Autumn of 2024.

‘Rockcorry Vision Plan 2030’ is a community-led integrated strategic plan commissioned by Monaghan County Council and prepared in collaboration with the Rockcorry community. The Vision Plan was developed over a number of months in a consultation process involving local residents, community organisations, sports clubs and businesses in Rockcorry who put forward their views about how they would like to see their village and community develop to 2030 and beyond.

The plan encompasses six development aims and actions which, when taken together, will facilitate the regeneration of Rockcorry as a sustainable village capable of meeting the needs of its existing and future residents, both in the village itself and the surrounding hinterland.

One of the primary purposes of RCDA is to be in a position to be able to respond to funding calls. The majority of funding applications require the beneficiary group to put up ‘match funding’. This can vary depending on the funder but typically will be at a ratio of 90%/10%. So, for example, where the total cost of a local project is €100,000, the funder will provide €90,000 while the local community ‘match funding’ figure will be €10,000. By any measure, this is very generous – for every €10 raised locally we will, if an application is successful, receive €90! We intend to make every effort to take advantage of all future funding calls that are relevant to our workplan.

This is where you as a valued member our local community comes in. From time to time, we will be hosting various fundraisers. The first of these was a ‘Townlands Table Quiz’ held in St Mary’s Hall on Friday, 7th February 2025. A huge ‘Thank You’ to all who attended and our many generous local sponsors.

We fully understand and appreciate that many families with young children and busy lifestyles may not always be able to attend the various fundraising events organised by RCDA. By setting up a GoFundMe page to coincide with a future fundraiser, we are providing you with an opportunity to show your support for our efforts in the regeneration of our village. We feel confident that our hopes for the future of Rockcorry align with your hopes.

Your contributions, however small and seemingly insignificant, will be very much appreciated and hugely impactful in realising the aims and objectives laid out in the Vision Plan.
