Since February 2025, one year ago, we raised $11,064 of which we spent approximately $10,650 on creating safe rallies covered by insurance, sometimes hiring police for enhanced safety, sometimes renting local venues, and always with sound system and more. Website, domain, banners, supplies, domain, and other sundry expenses have been manageable thank to you all! Thank you!!

Rather than start a new GoFundMe with each event we keep this one and simply raising the goal another $1500 when we approach major events such as our one-year-anniversary symposium coming Saturday, February 28th, at Edmond Town Hall (see www.RockThisDemocracy.org) This approach preserves our transparent fundraising history in one place.

As of this writing (January 31st) we have approximately $500 remaining on hand and we anticipate costs of up to $1800 to stage the free symposium which includes a live band, speakers, information tables, and room for hundreds in the warmth and safety of the gymnasium of Edmond Town Hall. Rock This Democracy is a Newtown-based grassroots organization supporting gatherings of all sizes to defend democracy and reject authoritarianism. Having covered most of the cost of our prior events (reflected in the total raised as of today) we now have a remainder of approximately $500 in hand as we prepare for our February 28th One-Year-Anniversary Symposium. We still face considerable expenses for guaranteeing police presence on the 28th (likely $1200), covering cost of insurance, plus all the nuts and bolts that go into providing high quality sound, covering expenses for some tech personell who have often donated their gear, talent, and hours of labor free of charge at past events, plus web site expenses past and present. For these reasons our Go Fund Me has remained open since day one.

In tandem with of our Symposium we hope to raise funds that will enable a Community Dialogue in March or April and other future events. THANK YOU for your support! OUR FUNDRAISING HISTORY

To ensure the success of our first rally on February 22, 202, we set agoal to raise $2000 to cover all costs. We exceeded that goal by $700 which has enabled us to begin our Community Dialogue events, the first of which was March 16th. For simplicity we have kept this same Go Fund Me open and adjusted our goal upward at each step cover the new costs as we go. THANK YOU for your support! Your donation today helps pay for the October 18th Rally and onward as we plan to reprise the Community Dialouge event again in the weeks between now and our next major rally in May. The significant costs of venue rental fees, insurance, police presence (all running into several hundred dollars per event, with police cost surpassing $1200 dpending on location) plus costs associated with sound system, web site, coffee and refreshments for the Dialogue events -- all are made feasible by scores of donations both big and small.
