On Wednesday the 9th of April, we here at TS Frobisher II are carrying out a sponsored row, cycle and walk with the aim of raising vital funds for our unit.
HMS Frobisher was given Battle Honours for her involvement in Normandy and the D-Day landings. The ship was damaged by a torpedo and returned to HM Dockyard, Chatham to be repaired. Whilst in Chatham, the Royal Navy reconverted Frobisher into a training ship for Cadets. Hence our namesake, TS Frobisher II.
We will attempting to row, cycle, run and walk a total of 150 miles on the 9th of April, which is the distance from Sword Beach in Ouistreham to HM Dockyard in Chatham. Our event will be held in the Rochdale Branch of Virgin Money, please come and see us in action on the day.
The monies we manage to raise will be vital in ensuring we are able to keep providing a safe and well equipped environment for the Cadets we welcome to our unit each Tuesday and Friday to achieve their potential guided by the customs and traditions of the Royal Navy.
150 miles is certainly not an easy distance, it will require real perseverance, teamwork and dedication from our Cadets who have volunteered to take part in this challenge. Please follow our Facebook page 'Rochdale Sea Cadets TS Frobisher II' for updates both regarding this event, as well as what we get up to week in week out. Thank you for taking the time to read, we are very grateful for your support.
