Hey friends!!

In January of 2024, I was given an amazing opportunity to join a volunteer medical surgical mission in Antigua, Guatemala. It was one of the most rewarding moments of my life, and I have again been given the opportunity to join another volunteer mission trip this coming January 2026.

What does a medical surgical mission mean? Well, I'm sure you've heard of Doctors Without Borders as they are the most recognizable name in medical missions, but there are countless other organizations that do medical mission trips as well. I have joined one, Medicos en Accion, which is a non-profit organization whose mandate is to provide medical and surgical care to people in low-income/low-resource developing countries with limited access to healthcare providers. Working with and sharing knowledge with local colleagues is an essential part of our mission, which is independent of any religious or political agenda. In one week, we will perform approximately 125 surgeries on underserved patients in Guatemala who don't have any economic resources.

This will be my 2nd volunteer mission helping people in need in a country that doesn't have the same facilities, supplies, or access to quality medical care that we have. I will be spending the week of January 23rd-31st in Antigua, Guatemala, operating on many people, mostly women and children, at no cost to them. While there, we will spend 10+ hours a day in the operating room, seeing as many patients as possible in the short time we have there.
