Meet Roberto Lopez-Rios, an artist with a powerful story of resilience and hope. Born in Morelos, Mexico, Roberto was raised in South Minneapolis from the age of four. Despite the challenges he faced growing up surrounded by violence and crime, Roberto held onto his dream of making a positive impact through his art. However, his path took a tragic turn, leading to a life behind bars at the age of sixteen. After 23 years of incarceration, Roberto's release is finally within reach. Yet, due to his immigration status, he faces the daunting prospect of deportation back to Mexico. With the support of devoted friends who have been preparing for his transition, Roberto is eager yet apprehensive about his newfound freedom. We believe in Roberto's potential for a fresh start, but he needs your help to navigate this critical moment in his life.
