Robe to Recovery is an initiative of the seaside town of Robe, South Australia, providing respite for returned Australian Defence Force veterans and their families, within beautiful surrounds and a welcoming, supportive community.
After the airing of the 'ABC Back Roads Program' on the 1st January, featuring our Robe to Recovery initiative, we have been inundated with offers of donations hence the set up of this GoFundMe account.

Veterans who have been affected by their service with physical or psychological injuries often struggle to fit back into civilian life after discharge from the ADF. Despite the many and various government support services on offer, sometimes the simplest act of generosity, support or recognition from the public can provide the circuit breaker they need to keep them going. We aim to provide this opportunity and simply knowing people care, can make all the difference when the challenges of reintegration seem insurmountable.
An unfortunate reality for many injured veterans following discharge from the ADF, is financial hardship as they struggle to re-enter civilian life and secure meaningful employment.
Robe to Recovery aims to raise money to create a social welfare fund that will assist those in financial distress, to access and make the most out of the respite program. The funds may be used to provide food or fuel vouchers, cover other travel costs or simply pay for a baby sitter during their stay to ensure that a couple can spend some quality time together, reconnecting without the distraction of parental duties.
The program has established an oversight group made up of community and business representatives and members of the local RSL sub branch, to ensure that all donated funds are administered and distributed in accordance with the above mentioned guidelines.
100% of the funds raised, will go directly towards supporting eligible veterans' during their stay in Robe and will make a significant difference in their lives, helping us to thank them for their service and sacrifice.
Regular periodical financial reports will be made public on our website.
Together, we CAN make a difference.
Please support this worthy cause and show your appreciation for our veteran community.
