Rob and Ali Adoption

Hello! We’re so glad you’ve stopped by to read our story.

As you may know, we are Rob and Ali. We met in 2009 at a Taco bell on Halloween night. Ali was dressed as a penguin; Rob was dressed as a normal person – it was love at first sight. In 2011, we were happily married and living in the Midwest where we have made our home since. The past few years, we’ve been trying to grow our family, but a long and painful process led us to the knowledge that conceiving a child on our own likely wouldn’t happen (outside of a miracle).

In April of 2018, we decided to move forward with adoption, as it had always been on our hearts to do so. The preparation is a process – approvals, legal documents, physical and mental examinations. Then there’s the inside work – letting God prepare our hearts and spirits to receive a baby into our home, even as we work through the duality of joy to start a family and grief that it won’t look or sequence the way we had originally planned.

Adoption is an incredible, but unique journey. Here is a snapshot of what this looks like as we prepare to grow our family:

1) We're adopting domestically – our child will (probably) be from either ND or MN.

2) We've requested to adopt an infant our first time, though the baby may not be a newborn.

3) We’re hoping for a semi-open adoption (some contact with the birthparents), as it's healthiest for all members of the adoption circle.

We want to ask our community to consider supporting us by joining in us prayer. Pray for us as parents, that we can create the home this child needs as we walk through the unique challenges of adoption with selflessness and grace. Pray for health of the baby. Pray for the birthparents, that God would give them peace, grace, and comfort in this brave decision. And please pray for LIFE, that more parents would choose adoption over abortion.

The second part of support is difficult for us to ask for. But after talking with friends and family, we recognized that giving is an opportunity for those who would like to serve the vulnerable God referenced in His Word. Please know we don’t wish for any of you to feel obligated to give financially, but to those who feel led, any gift would be a blessing.

Adoption fees are upwards of $20,000. We have been blessed to work toward that goal through our journey. However, like the Word of God says, we know there is a calling and a blessing to care for orphans, widows, single moms, and more. And for many, giving is a way to do so.

This page sheds only a small light on the significant issues of infertility and adoption. We see deep value in opening up conversation around these things, and we’d love to talk with anyone who would like to hear more about our story or who needs support in yours.

THANK YOU all for your support! We are deeply grateful for every word of encouragement, prayer, connection, and financial gift. We know our baby will be so loved.
