Even though you may not hear about it on the news amongst all the other crazy things in the world, Nicaragua is a place in dire need. This beautiful country is the second poorest in the western hemisphere, scoring some of the highest rates for poverty, malnutrition, and illiteracy. The non-profit Neighbors to Nicaragua (N2N) steps up to make a monumental difference: building schools, homes, nutrition programs, and medical aid to lift up families in need.

One of these families is the Garcia family of Nueva Esperanza (New Hope). Edwin and Rosa Garcia are parents to two young children—Rosa Esmerelda (5) and Edwin (7), both students with N2N. The Garcias worked with N2N to purchase a small piece of land a couple years ago. Today, they are less than halfway to reaching their financial goal to build a safe, permanent family home on that land. My family has been involved with N2N since Chuck laid the foundation in 2012. It is AMAZING to see firsthand how hopes and dreams turn into reality for those less fortunate through the mission of N2N.

I am passionate to continue broaden this mission and help the Garcias build their home by starting a campaign as I train for the 2026 Ironman 70.3 Gulf Coast race! Every early morning workout, long run, cold swim, and challenging training session will be dedicated towards raising $4000 for the Garcia family!
