Many of you will have seen the catastrophic events of hurricane Melissa. The media does not show the total devastation that has affected specific parts of the island. We have been truly moved by the plight of the people affected by this disastrous hurricane. We are a family from South East London, originally from Petersfield, Westmoreland.
We are organising relief efforts to support those most affected by Hurricane Melissa, which struck Jamaica in late October 2025, as a devastating Category 5 storm. The hurricane caused severe flooding, landslides and wind damage, destroying homes, blocking roads and leaving much of the island without power, clean water or basic necessities. In Petersfield, Westmoreland, almost every home has been affected, with families struggling to access food, shelter and essential supplies, (most families are yet to hear from loved ones). Most of the community are now homeless and in need of financial assistance and support to begin rebuilding their lives.
Our mission is to send relief items to be distributed amongst communities, ensuring fairness and transparency. Our family and friends are coordinating this effort, collecting and preparing the donations to be sent to the communities of Petersfield, Westmoreland (Shrewsbury, Roaring River, Logwood, etc). If further support is received, we aim to expand it further across Westmoreland and continue sending additional aid to reach more areas in need.
Every mickle mek a muckle! No donation is too small. Please make a monetary donation via the go fund me. Your donations will go towards:
- Providing funds to purchase building materials to create safe shelter and repair damaged homes
- Supply food and essential personal care items to help families maintain a decent standard of living
- Purchase clean water for drinking and cooking
- Delivering emergency medical supplies and aid for both adults and children
- Offering support to the vulnerable who have lost everything
All funds will be used responsibly to assist those most affected by the storm. We will coordinate the transfer of funds directly to the community and provide regular updates, photos and receipts to ensure full accountability and transparency in how donations are used.
