The day after Christmas, my son was taken into ICE custody.

My name is Bridgette, and I am asking for help for my son, Alex.

Alex is 23 years old. He came to the United States when he was just three years old. This country is the only home he has ever truly known. Years ago, Alex came into my life as my foster child—but he became my son in every way that matters. I have loved him, protected him, worried over him, and celebrated him the same way any mother does.

The day after Christmas, ICE detained Alex.

Since that moment, our lives have been turned upside down.

Alex is currently being held in immigration detention, separated from his family, his work, and the life he has built here. He is a respectful, hardworking young man with a gentle heart. He has always tried to do the right thing. He is not a danger. He is not a criminal. He is simply a young man who grew up here and deserves the chance to stay in the only country he calls home.

As a mother, there are few things more painful than knowing your child is locked away and you cannot protect them. Every phone call is heavy. Every day is filled with fear, paperwork, deadlines, and prayers.

We are fighting to bring Alex home and keep him from being deported. This fight requires immediate legal representation, bond requests, filings, phone calls, and time-sensitive court work. Immigration attorneys require large retainers up front, and the costs add up quickly—often faster than a single family can manage.

I would not be asking for help if there were any other way. But this fight is bigger than me alone.
