I’m running the Riverside marathon on the 29th of November to raise funds for the Riverside Carehome; the carers of my late Gran in her final months.

Upon visiting the carehome I instantly noticed how happy the residents were, how clean the premises was and how courteous the staff were. Having worked in numerous care homes through my line of work I have never witnessed the level of care they continuously provide at Riverside. That is why I am attempting to raise some funds to help make the brilliant staff’s and resident’s lives that little bit easier.

The residents are consistently given enrichment activities to engage in and although they are at a difficult and complicated time in their lives, the smiles of the residents and their happiness is something you notice as soon as you enter. This is testament to the work the staff put in.

This marathon is in honour of my late gran - Eileen. Her resilience, maintenance of dignity and strength throughout her life and in her final months was the catalyst of me doing this marathon and will inspire me through this challenge and beyond.
