If anything taught me anything these past couple weeks, it’s that me and my little family have amassed an incredible group of compassionate and wonderful people throughout the years, who care about my children’s well-being and happiness.
I’ve never used GoFundMe, because I hate HATE asking for help. But I also know that sometimes, the best thing you can do is allow people to help you. So here I am, doing the thing.
Zoe turns 16 in exactly one week. Due to our recent travels and struggles finding mental health services for River, I have had to dip heavily into the funds I put aside to purchase Zoe a car.
I don’t have to tell you, my soon-to-be-16 year old is maybe the best person I know. Through all of this turmoil, she has been rock steady. She’s helped me out around the house, she volunteers in my classroom every Wednesday, she’s kept her grades up and never misses her weekly game of Sorry with her grandma. She gives me space when I need it, doesn’t hold it against me when I snap at her, and holds place in her heart for patience and forgiveness for both me and River. She deserves the world. I would like to settle for a car.
So if you have been following our story and wanted to do something for us, this is what I encourage. It helps all of us in the long run, while also having a direct effect on our current situation.
For the record: the car I found is a fully electric previously owned Nissan Leaf. One owner, good mileage, and very safe. She has a named picked out for it and everything.
