Little River and his parents Taylor(Owens) & Jordan Rohwer need our help. River was born to these young, first time parents in January. Three days after he was born he was diagnosed with a large Ventricular Septal Defect which would require an open heart surgery during his first year.
He is the sweetest little thing and is such a fighter. At two months, River started having complications with feedings, and required hospitalization and a feeding tube. At that time, countless tests were performed and River was diagnosed with DiGeorge's Syndrome. This syndrome will require multiple specialists; immunologist, endocrinologist, ENT, orthopedist, ophthalmologist, early development therapists, and geneticists, in addition to his cardiology team to ensure he receives proper care and support.
It was determined at 5 months old, that River was ready for his open heart surgery to repair the holes in his heart, which was completed at Children's Hospital in Omaha, NE by his wonderful Cardiac Team. The surgery was a huge success and at 5 days post-op, River was well enough to go home, where is now recovering.
We want to help this young family by relieving some of the monetary stresses they are facing as
they deal with this new reality of their sweet boy's life.
Taylor and Jordan both graduated from Elkhorn High School in 2008. Jordan is part of Rohwer family that has lived in the Elkhorn area for generations.
Taylor and her two sisters, Lauren & Meghan also attended Elkhorn High and Elkhorn South.
Please help support this wonderful family so they can ensure River gets the care and support he needs. May God Bless you.
