URGENT NEED FOR FUNDS

Rita's friends are raising funds to help cover monthly housing expenses for Rita and her 94-year-old mother May (Grandma).

Rita and Grandma have ongoing monthly needs that are beyond the available funds for her and her mother. Any donated funds will be used to pay the monthly rent and living expenses.  Finding suitable housing to meet the requirements of May's restricted mobility and health care needs has been difficult and expensive.   Rita has now exhausted all other resources and, is now in a position where she does not have enough funds to meet the finical obligations for housing and extraneous living expenses. Rita does not have living family members that can help and she does not know what to do next.

We have set up the Go Fund Me page as a resource for Rita.

Rita stopped working six years ago. Rita ended up in the hospital from the daily stress of trying to make ends meet while caring for her elderly mother.  It was impossible to work and deal with May's declining health. Three years ago Rita was injured during a move out of a rental home she and grandma occupied. Rita has never fully recovered this injury.

Today, May is a shut-in, confined in a wheelchair and is also required to use oxygen.

Rita has the demanding job of caring for May, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Rita cannot run quick errands without making sure Grandma will be safe while Rita is out of the house.

At Seventy years of age, Rita's struggles have been intense. It would mean so much to all of us (that care about Rita and Grandma) if Rita could get some relief.

 HISTORY

1993 Rita's late husband died from cancer, caused by his exposure to Agent Orange while serving in the military.

1994- 2007 Rita was left with a medical debt from her Husband's numerous hospital stays, surgeries, and chemo treatments. Also left behind was Rita and her husbands' four-year-old daughter. Rita sold off all remaining assets, including her home, to pay the medical debts. Rita never recovered from this financial blow even though she continued to work while raising her daughter.

2007- PRESENT Rita continues her role as caretaker today
