Help Empower Residents at Portland Rehabilitation Management (PRM) with an Entrepreneurial Program!
Greetings from Portland Rehabilitation Management in beautiful Port Antonio, Jamaica! In partnership with Sol Adventurers Foundation, we are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for our residents to learn valuable entrepreneurial skills through our chicken-raising program. We need your support to make this dream a reality!
About Our Project:
Our program is designed to empower residents by teaching them how to raise chickens and manage a small business. Participants will learn everything from caring for the chickens to budgeting, sales, and distribution. This hands-on experience is invaluable for building confidence and skills that can be used in future endeavors.
Why We Need Your Help:
To ensure the success of this program, we are raising $5,333. These funds will be used to purchase the following:
*** We have an emergency needing urgent attention: Mongoose have gotten into the chicken coop and eaten 47 of our 100 new chicks, so the first place money will be spent is to repair the chicken coop before we lose any more of our precious baby chicks. Below is an estimate from our contractor who came out on Wednesday.
-Repairs to the Chicken Coop: $1,130
- 13 Cubic Foot Deep Freezer: $565
This deep freeze will allow us to store the chickens, ensuring they remain fresh until they are sold.
- 3.2 Cubic Foot Compact Refrigerator: $226
This refrigerator will store medications for our residents, ensuring they are kept at the right temperature.
- Delivery Fee: $26
- 150 Baby Chickens: $972 ($162/mo x 6 months)
These chicks are the foundation of our program, providing the opportunity for growth and learning.
- Chicken Feed: $1668 ($278/mo x 6 months supply)
Essential for keeping our chickens healthy and thriving.
- Vitamins for Chickens: $30 ($5/mo x 6 months supply)
To ensure our chickens remain in optimal health.
- Fees & Administrative Costs: $564
The Impact:
Last time, we faced challenges due to a lack of proper storage. With your help, we can invest in a deep freeze, which will allow us to store chickens until they are ready for sale. This means we won't have to rush to sell them on the same day they're processed. Additionally, we have layers producing eggs, providing another source of income for the shelter.
Your generous donation will not only help us purchase these essential items but will also provide our residents with the tools they need to succeed. Together, we can make a significant impact on their lives, giving them a chance to learn, grow, and contribute to their community.
Join Us in Making a Difference!
Your support, no matter the size, will bring us closer to our goal. Let's work together to empower the residents of Portland Rehabilitation Management and create a brighter future for them through the efforts of Sol Adventurers Foundation. I have been working with the residents for five months now, and they are amazing people who truly deserve this opportunity to enhance their skills and contribute to sustaining the shelter.
Give thanks for your kindness and generosity!
