Hi everyone! We are setting up this Go Fund Me account for our sweet Riley Benado. Most everyone in town, and beyond our small town, is familiar with her story of surviving ovarian cancer at just 18 years old. She is a role model to so many young girls and such a bright light to all that know her. Her passion for life and all that she strives to achieve is such an inspiration.
Since her fighting her first battle she has taken her photography to the professional level and made a name for herself here on the central coast. She has also worked very hard and taken a management position at Starbucks. Riley never fails at showing that hard work and dedication always pays off!
Unfortunately that brings us to today... she has recently been told that there is another mass growing on her remaining ovary. It is an 18cm mass, much bigger than the last time. It is surrounding her entire ovary leaving no visibility of the ovary. At the time there is no obvious signs of cancer in this mass. But we will not have any final answers regarding cancer until the surgery is done.
The biggest struggle for Riley here is that in the first surgery they took out one ovary and were unable to leave any eggs on that side. With the mass on the other side completely engulfing her remaining ovary, the chances of Riley’s fertility being saved are very slim.
The doctor has said at this point her goal is to save Riley’s life. Which we are all on board for! But Riley’s biggest dream in life has always been to have kids and be a mom. And with her nurturing and loving heart and it only seems fitting. So it’s been a hard pill to swallow for her.
We are praying first and foremost for a healthy Riley, but secondly for a miracle for her fertility.
We ask for any help to cover the money Riley and her family have had to pay out of pocket already and to help cover the expenses for her surgery that insurance won’t cover.
Riley’s surgery is set for Friday August 9th at 2:30pm at Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.
