Riding for Ze
My name is Ian and anyone that knows me, knows I don't like cycling, or cyclists to be honest (sorry cyclists!). I don't like the lycra, they get in the way on the road and it just looks so boring. I prefer mountain biking or mostly a bike with an engine in it! Most people that know me and my family understand the pain and heartache of losing our Ze, my lovely sister who fought hard against that dreadful disease for three years. The pain, and suffering she went through yet we all know she never moaned once!
So my thinking is, let me do something I don't like, will cause me a bit of pain and I'll look like an idiot doing it (my son actually laughed at me), so I signed up for a 100-mile bike ride! A bike ride around London, then out to the Essex countryside, finally finishing back in London.
Ze was an amazing person for her whole life. She brought children into the world as a midwife and made sure that the children had a better and safer life. Our Ze loved running the London Marathon for the NSPCC so I thought maybe I could raise a little money for the NSPCC which was close to our Ze's heart.
It would be good for you to follow my training in preparation for the event, give us a wave if you see us out (even if it is a two-fingered one !).
It's going to be tough but Ze will be with me for every mile to spur me on
