Ride For Water - Matt Mendoza

This summer, I have the opportunity to be a part of Ride For Water, a group of 18 college students riding our bikes across the US to raise money for clean water. My team and I will be biking over 3,000 miles from San Francisco to New York with the mission of raising awareness and money to help end the global water crisis. We are partnering with the non-profit organization charity: water and what is so special about this is that charity: water takes 100% of all donations and puts them straight towards providing people access to clean water all over the world. I chose to be a part of Ride For Water because we live in a world where 663 million people are living without access to clean water and I can play a part in changing that. This cause has been near to my heart for many years, and I am so excited to be a part of this journey.
I believe in a God who cares about people's earthly needs, and I feel that just as Jesus provided for people's needs so should we. We are so blessed, and often take clean water for granted, sometimes even forgetting that there are people living without it. My hope for this journey is that it can serve as a constant reminder that we have the power to make a difference, create visible change in our lifetime, and the craziest thing we can do is nothing.
I am already overwhelmed with how generous so many of you have been in supporting my trip and this cause, I am truly thankful for the people God has place in my life. I am asking for your prayers, support, and encouragement as my team and I train for this incredible adventure that will hopefully create awareness of such a great cause. I am personally looking to raise $1,500, this will cover the cost of food, equipment, vehicles to carry equipment, and anything else we may need along the course of the ride. This money will help fund my team's ride, but our ultimate goal is to raise 100k to donate to charity: water and anything I raise over my goal will go towards our campaign. charity: water says it takes $30 to give one person clean water for the rest of their life. Join my team and I in our efforts to end the global water crisis in our lifetime.
