Ride for Rainbow Railroad on My 31st Birthday!

Hello friends!

As I approach my 31st birthday, I've decided to celebrate in a unique and meaningful way. I am combining two things that are very close to my heart: spin/indoor cycling and community building!

This year, I'm teaming up with SPINCO to host a private charity spin ride, and I invite you to join me in supporting an important cause and organization.

The Mission:

Rainbow Railroad is an incredible organization that works tirelessly to help LGBTQI+ individuals escape persecution and violence in their home countries. By providing financial assistance and support, Rainbow Railroad helps these individuals find safety and freedom, allowing them to live authentically.

The Fundraiser:

To make this charity ride a reality, we need your support. The minimum donation to participate is $31, symbolic of my 31st birthday. However, we encourage you to consider a more generous contribution to help us reach our goal and make a significant impact on the lives of those in need. For transparency, a portion of the proceeds will also help cover the cost of hosting the charity ride (i.e., studio fee).

Date: Saturday, January 20, 2024 | 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Location: SPINCO Downtown Toronto (129 Spadina Avenue)

How to Ride/Donate:

After donating, PLEASE CLICK HERE. You can book your bike by 'purchasing' a Private Event class card (at no charge), creating and/or logging into your SPINCO account and selecting your bike.

Let’s party while riding bikes that go nowhere! P.S., You do not need to ride a bike after donating, but why not? :)

This charity ride pays homage to my work as an anthropologist in the last decade. Since 2015, I've been working with non-profit organizations in Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines documenting the 'disrupted' lives of transgender women sex workers. What is canang sari? The canang sari represents a symbol to demonstrate gratitude. I've experienced the beauty of the canang sari daily ritual during my anthropological fieldwork in Bali in the summer of 2017. In Balinese Hindu, these small flower basket offerings symbolize praise and prayer to maintain balance and peace on earth — renewed each day.
