Rick Harrelson's Sister
Donation protected
We are Steve and Lex, friends of Rick Harrelson, the deceased brother of Donna Harrelson. Together, we have been providing personal, emotional, and financial support to Donna in order to keep her in the home she grew up in with her parents since the passing of her entire family. Donna has no family support system, no income, or ability to support herself. We have applied for Social Security Disability benefits for Donna, which is typically an 18-24 month process. We are asking for your donation to help pay Donna’s monthly household expenses until a Social Security benefits decision can be reached, which will hopefully allow Donna to say in her home. We would like to share Donna’s story with you, and let you know that your donation will be greatly appreciated to support her during this Social Security application process timeframe.
In 1978, when she was 17 years old, Donna was involved in a severe motorcycle accident. The motorcycle she was a passenger on was hit by a car that pulled out in front on them. Donna was catapulted over the car, resulting in brain trauma and other physical injuries. She was in intensive care at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia for several months. After release from intensive care, Donna underwent extensive therapy to learn how to talk and walk again. Donna’s life changing injuries at a young age interrupted her ability to continue her education, prevented her from developing meaningful relationships outside of her immediate family, and prevented her from acquiring skills that would enable her to support herself financially.
As a result of the accident, Donna lived with, and was supported by, her parents her entire life. However, her father, John Barrett Harrelson, passed away on December 25, 2013. Her brother, Richard D. Harrelson, (and our high school and college buddy) died suddenly from a heart attack on September 16, 2015. Her mother, Mattie Pearl Harrelson, passed away May 25, 2016.
Donna is currently living alone in her childhood home. However, Donna has no source of financial income, and no social support system. Donna has no relatives that are providing her assistance. As mentioned earlier, our goal is to obtain Social Security Disability benefits for Donna allowing her to stay in her home and somewhat support herself. Your donation will provide financial assistance during this time to help pay her household expenses as we execute this plan on her behalf, and we thank you for your support!
